Discussion and updates

This task was created by the system

Task was assigned to Carolin Bellstedt and status was changed: Open → In Progress

An observation that I made with this file is that at first I couldn't process it as geospatial spreadsheet and got an error message, see screenshot. I figured out that this must have been from the time before uploading GPS coordinates was possible OR the file was incorrectly marked as dataset, BUT that in any case the file type needs to be "GPS coordinates". I changed that in the back end, because afaik it isn't possible to do so in the front end yet.
I don't know how many more of these we will encounter, but perhaps there should be an option to change that in the review file content process?

Oh, it seems that the downside from my change is that when clicking on the file and trying to generate the preview plot, it isn't possible.

  1. Does the system think GPS coordinates should come in a shapefile, no, right? There is its own item type for that.
  2. Is there even a preview for GPS coordinate files? Dots on maps? I haven't seen those yet.

Hi Carolin, thanks for the feedback. The preview image is not generated for gps coordinates - I've now removed this so there is no confusion.

In terms of being able to change the type, I created a task here and will add that feature in due course.

I assume it takes a while until this change is pushed, because I can still see the button and in the last row of the metadata it says no shapefile found. Thanks for making the task! I've signed up for updates :)

Sometimes I don't 'push' the changes to the server yet in order to bundle multiple changes, but I already report here when I finish them -- and that was the case here. I've now pushed the changes.

Got it. Good to know for future cases :)
