The management contract is a crucial element of our governance since it regulates the respective duties and obligations of the Port and the Region. In this document, the Port is consolidated in its role as waterway manager for the Brussels-Capital Region. This essential mission of public service, which consists in ensuring the navigability on the Brussels part of the Antwerp-Brussels-Charleroi axis by the maintenance of the waterway, in particular the dredging, as well as the operation of the movable bridges and locks. It is a mission delegated to the Port by the Region, and thus fully funded by a regional allocation.
