The total consumption of water invoiced to the different sectors of economic activity and households in Brussels amounted to 59 million m3 in 2012 (Source: Vivaqua, consumption measured by meters). This consumption is mainly distributed between households (68%) and the tertiary sector (29%). In the tertiary sector, the main consumers are HoReCa (5.6% of total consumption), social activities, for human health and seniors (4.7%), retail and wholesale ( 3.7%), education (2.7%) and general government (2.1% and 2.9% if the European Commission is included).
