The ultimate use of timber should determine the kind, grade and dimensions and that the dealings in timber as in any other commodity is a matter of arrangement between buyer and seller. For Wood being a natural product and regardless of how careful the log is sawn, it will have little and will not be entirely free from defect. Nevertheless, the timber grading rules provide a set of guidelines laid to enable users better understand the allowable defects on the kind of timber they acquired.
